A few years ago I set about building an electric trials bike, it was quite simple and fantastic fun to ride. The project was featured on Influx online magazine, https://www.adrianflux.co.uk/influx/features/ev-trials/ after completing the project and riding, I stumbled up an Irish chap, Damien Maguire (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8sR7IAMOHKV-S_oz3JH3qw) a prolific BMW converter and his €1000 project sparked my interest.
A cheap VW Beetle popped up on Facebook marketplace for only £300 and I wasted no time in agreeing to buy it, the project had started :D
My aim is to have a usable EV for local driving, shopping, visiting parents etc, so a range of 25-40 miles would be plenty to begin with, within a budget of £2000
The relatively small budget (for an EV conversion) means new parts are out of the window, and OEM parts from crashed cars was the only viable option.
